This women who never went to school turned $2500 to 60 Million Dollars!!

The only way you’re successful and happy is when you lead an honest life - Ms. Rose Blumkin

From being Pennyless to selling her company for 60 Million Dollars Ms. Rose Blumkin’s story is made up of pure Grit, hard work, and smart work. She never went to school and did not know a word of English when she arrived in the USA with her husband.

She worked hard and smart, saved 2,500 $ and started a furniture store, grew her business, and later sold it to Warren Buffet for 60 Million $

As I read her story three things stood out for me,

1. She never hesitated to ask, even when the majority of the people rejected to give her furniture on credit, she didn’t quit. She kept on seeking until she found a person who would give.

2. The second thing is her love and respect for her customers. Any business that truly cares for its customers and keeps adding value has to thrive.

3. Age is just a number. When she was 95 years old, her grandchildren threw her out of her own company. Being the woman she was, she started a new company right across the street and gave her grandchildren a stiff competition. Finally, Warren Buffet bought her second company too!. And she worked until she was 103 years old!

Here is a video clipping of Mr. Warren Buffet speaking about Ms. Rose Blumkin.

She lived for 104 years and worked until her last days.

The first time I felt beautiful. Thanks to the Man who couldn't See Me!!

It was the Year 2013, I was in the class of my lecturer Rajdeep Manwaniji who is visually challenged. I was looking forward to his class. He walked with confidence into the class and took a minute to understand our seating arrangement. He gave us instructions as to how to ask questions (e.g. tell our name before asking anything) and interact with him during the sessions and then started the class... it was an eye opener for me to understand disability from a new perspective.  And then he shared a real-life story and asked us questions, He did not look impressed with the first answer by one of my friends. I was the second one to answer. When I answered he took a long pause and I was wondering if I said something wrong, he then took a few steps toward me and says "Gowthami you are a beautiful person" .  My heart filled with gratitude and tears rolled down. Because all these years I had carried a feeling that I was not beautiful, thanks to the thousand comments I had heard ...
