Inspiring journey - from selling books on pavements to owning the biggest and most loved bookshop in Bengaluru

The Bookworm is one of the very well-known book shops in Church street Bengaluru. The founder, Krishna Gowda started from nothing and builds one of the most loved book stores in Bengaluru.

He had to start earning right after his PUC  due to challenges at home. He had almost decided to join his uncle who owned an onion shop. But then destiny had other plans. Mayee Gowda from his village invited him to join him in selling books on the pavements of Bengaluru.

From selling books on the pavements to becoming the owner of one of the most loved book shops has been an incredible and inspiring journey.πŸ‘πŸ‘

The business is now 25 years old and it is not a simple task to sustain and grow a business for 25 years. The best thing is that even when he is successful, he has retained the best qualities in him - simple, innovative, humble, and customer oriented. His employees are cheerful and his wife Uma is as awesome as him.😎

Now here is an interesting fact! Mayee Gowda with whom he had started to sell books owns one more famous bookshop “Blossoms Book Shop” Which is also located on Church Street. Both the shops are doing good.

When someone speaks of cutthroat competition I think of these two shops. When there is enough for all, why do we speak of cut-throat? One needs to focus on serving the customers and adding value so the business grows.πŸ†

I found Bookworm when my daughter was about one year old. It’s been 17 years and one of my favorite places to visit with my kids 😍. Book worm is a treasure house for new books, rare books, out-of-print books, and pre-loved books. A must-visit place for every bookworm 😊.

This women who never went to school turned $2500 to 60 Million Dollars!!

The only way you’re successful and happy is when you lead an honest life - Ms. Rose Blumkin From being Pennyless to selling her company for 60 Million Dollars Ms. Rose Blumkin’s story is made up of pure Grit, hard work, and smart work. She never went to school and did not know a word of English when she arrived in the USA with her husband.  She worked hard and smart, saved 2,500 $ and started a furniture store, grew her business, and later sold it to Warren Buffet for 60 Million $  As I read her story three things stood out for me,  1. She never hesitated to ask , even when the majority of the people rejected to give her furniture on credit, she didn’t quit. She kept on seeking until she found a person who would give.  2. The second thing is her love and respect for her customers . Any business that truly cares for its customers and keeps adding value has to thrive. 3. Age is just a number . When she was 95 years old, her grandchildren threw her out of her own company. Being the woman

Let your children know that you love them even when they make a mistake!!

"One day your child will make a mistake or a bad choice and run to you instead of away from you and at that moment you will know the immense value of peaceful, positive, respectful parenting". L.R. Knost I know that most children turn to their parents when they do a simple or one-time mistake.  But the actual challenge appears when the child makes a major mistake or keeps repeating the same mistake. It becomes difficult for the parent to not lose cool or to forgive. And children feel guilty or fearful and want to hide their mistakes. 😒 The fact is, children learn by making mistakes and sometimes they do the same mistake again and again. The reasons could be many, temptations, peer pressure, an easy way out of a situation, procrastination, and more. It’s our duty as parents and teachers to keep our "sunny side up" πŸ˜‡and guide them until they learn. It's important to let them know that we are not okay with bad behavior and that such behavior will have consequence
